Looking out for someone matters.

You don’t have to have the perfect words. Being there, asking, and helping them reach support is enough.

A simple way to help

  1. Ask. Find a quiet moment. “I’ve noticed you haven’t seemed yourself. How are you going?”
  2. Listen. Let them talk. You don’t need to fix it. Avoid rushing to advice.
  3. Encourage help. Offer to sit with them while they call a helpline, or go with them to a GP or local service.
  4. Look after you. Supporting someone is heavy. Lifeline can also talk with you.
